April 28, 2008 NEW UKC Hunting Retriever Champion Title : "Lucy" HRCH Struan's Devil's In De Tails SH, WCI earned her HRCH title this past weekend with two passes at the WISILL UKC hunt test in Kenosha, WI.

April 13, 2008 I would like to announce that Ember earned a few USDAA agility titles this weekend.  She was/ is trained and handled by Tammie Stone.  The two of them make a great team and they are a lot of fun to watch.  Ember was entered in 5 events this past weekend and "Q'd" in all of them.  Ember earned her, Performance I Jumpers "PJ1" and Performance I Standard "PS1".  She is now BPISS AKC/ NSDTRC CH Vermilion's All Fired Up WC PJ1, PK1, PS1.  

March 9, 2008 NEW UKC Started Hunting Retriever Title : "Mac", AKC/NSDTRC CH Littleriver's Brynwood McCoy earned his SHR title this past weekend with his fourth straight started pass.

Feb 21, 2008  - NEW Performance Jumpers Title:  Lakota's own Ember earned a USDAA Agility  PJ1  Performance Jumpers. What a team of Tammy and Ember.  They just keep racking up the titles.

Feb 10, 2008  - NEW NSDTRC (USA) Club Championship. Was earned by "CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar" by passing his first two UKC Started tests in Madisonville, TX this past weekend.

Jan 8, 2008  - NEW Performance Snooker Title: Ember earned a USDAA Agility  PK1  Performance Snooker. We would like to thank Tammie Stone for all of her hard work with Ember.  We are so proud of both of them.

July 16, 2007, NEW TITLE - AKC JH (Junior Hunter)  - " Pippin" Kerry Pippin of Quarry Cross JH WCI  Pippin earned his AKC Junior Hunter this past weekend with his owner Kelly Barry.  Pippin was trained by Lakota Retrievers.  Look for Pippin in AKC Senior and UKC seasoned in the coming weeks.

June 25, 2007, NEW TITLE - UKC SHR (Started Hunting Retriever)  - "Lucy" SHR Timberline Lucy In The Sky JH  Lucy went 4 out of 4 UKC started tests to earn her title.  She was handled and trained by Lakota retrievers.  Lucy is a talented little girl, look for her to run AKC Senior and UKC Seasoned this fall.

June 3, 2007, AKC JH (Junior Hunter)  - " Rogue" Kare's Keepsake Fortune Hunter JH WC Rogue went 4 for 4 in earning her AKC Junior Hunter (JH) title this past weekend.  She was trained and handled by Lakota Retrievers.  We are very proud of what this young girl has accomplished to date and has done it with great style.  Look for Rogue to finish up her UKC started Hunting retriever title and then on to the breed ring and obedience ring.

May 29, 2007, UPDATE  Lakota Retrievers has the philosophy of " Less is More ". "Less", at Lakota Retrievers means we take in a limited amount of dogs in for training.  With a limited number of dogs we are able to give them the individual time they deserve not only in the training field, but around the house. Having the dogs in the house as part of the family gives us the chance to build a stronger bond as well as monitor overall health and condition more consistently.  "More", because of the limited amount of dogs we take in for training we are able to spend more time in the field with each dog giving them the training they need to continue on the track of more titles and achievements.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WCX (Working Certificate Excellent)  - " Ace" HR CH Blue Chip's Luck of the Draw JH WCX earned his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate Excellent title this past weekend.  He was trained and handled by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers for his title.  On the 2nd day of the test Ace's owner Gail Patinos  handled him at the WCI (Working Certificate Intermediate) test and did a great job earning a pass.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WCI (Working Certificate Intermediate)  - " Dylan" SHR AKC/NSDTRC CH KD's Cedar Keepsake JH WCI earned his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate Intermediate title this past weekend.  He was trained and handled by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers. 

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WCI (Working Certificate Intermediate)  - " Pippin" Kerry Pippin of Quarry Cross WCI  earned his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate Intermediate title this past weekend.  He was trained  by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers.  Pippin Earned his title the first day of the BYC with his trainer Paul Kartes.  Not to be outdone he also passed the WCI test on the 2nd day with his owner at the wheel.  Congrats to Pippin and Kelly on a job well done.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WC (Working Certificate )  - " Rogue" Kare's Keepsake Fortune Hunter WC earned her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate title this past weekend.  She was trained  and handled by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers. Rogue is well on her way of earning a few more titles, with three straight AKC Junior Hunter tests and three straight UKC Started Retriever tests.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WC (Working Certificate )  - " Quinn" Irish Peach of Quarry Cross  WC earned her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate title this past weekend.  She was trained by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers. Quinn was handled by her owner Kelly Barry to her title and just for the heck of it passed the WC on the 2nd day too.  Good job and congrats to both of them.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WC (Working Certificate )  - " Blaze" Vermilion's GB Mega Prairiefire WC  earned his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate title this past weekend.  He was trained by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers. Blaze was handled by his owner Jane Billman for his titles on the first day.  The 2nd day Blaze was handled by 10 year old Addie Billman and they managed to get all of their birds.  Good job to all three for a successful weekend.

May 28, 2007, NSDTRC (USA) WC (Working Certificate) PASS - " Tempie" Zephyr's Tempest WC NA NAJ  passed both days of  the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA Working Certificate title this past weekend.  Tempie comes back to Lakota Retrievers every few months for a tune-up in the field.  These passes were made even more special when you learn that Tempie is almost 90% deaf.  Tempie was handled by her owner Nick Lynch.

May 22, 2007, Lakota Retrievers Training Ponds.  Here is a very creative video created by Hal Ronin from today’s training session.  Hal came out to train on Lakota Retrievers private ponds.  He took some wonderful pictures and created this video collection and set it to music.  I thought all might enjoy seeing it, the last few pictures are of Hal and his Flat-Coated retriever “Nell”.  The file size is a bit large so you may want to save it to your hard drive first before viewing.  Enjoy and let me know what you think. < Training Ponds Video Link >    Paul Kartes paul@lakotaretrievers.com

May 12, 2007, AKC Senior Hunter - " Jonas " HR NSDTRC/UKC/AKC Ch Maetoll's Reflection of Foxvale SH WCX earned his AKC senior hunter title this past weekend at the Fox Valley Retriever Club spring hunt test.  Jonas is only the 11th Toller in AKC to earn their senior hunter title and has done it before the age of three.  Jonas was handled and trained by Lakota Retrievers, he is owned by Mike and Mandy Eakins of Maetoll Retrievers.  Look for Jonas in the UKC finished and AKC master series soon.  Here is a video of Jonas tolling this past duck season in southern IL.

May 7, 2007, AKC Master Hunter - Lakota's own "Neka" HRCH Gamekeepers Blind Sided MH WCX Can WC earned her AKC Master Hunter title this past weekend at the Golden Retriever Club of IL hunt test.  We are very proud of all this young girl has accomplished at such a young age. She is currently getting ready to run the UKC Fall Grand.  Here are a few pictures from this last winters duck season.

• "JH" TITLE, Oct 21, 2006 - Congrats to "Annie" SHR NSDTRC/AKC CH Firebrick's Anchor Away JH CD RA OA OAJ WC VC CGC for earning her AKC Junior Hunter title.  Annie has split her training time this year between home and at Lakota Retrievers.  She was handled to her four straight AKC Junior passes by Lakota Retrievers.  Look for her in the pheasant fields and duck blinds this winter.

• "HRCH" TITLE, - Oct 14-15, 2006 - Congrats to Lakota Retrievers very own "Neka" HRCH Gamekeeper's Blind Sided SH WCX, this young girl has had a great year.  She earned her UKC Hunting Retriever Championship (HRCH) and has four AKC Master Hunter passes under her belt.  She is going to take a few months off to hunt and will get back out in the field this early spring.

• "HR" TITLE, - Oct 14-15, 2006 - Congrats to "Ace" HR Blue Chip's Luck of the Draw JH WCI for passing four straight UKC seasoned tests to earn his UKC Hunting Retriever (HR).  Ace was handled by Lakota Retriever.  Look for Ace in the breed ring and in a goose blind this winter.  Also look for him at the Finished line this spring.

•  "SHR" TITLE, - Oct 14-15, 2006 - Congrats to "Thurston - aka Bubba" SHR NSDTRC/AKC CH Maetoll's Million Dollar Man WC CGC.  He earned his UKC started hunting retriever title this past weekend with his owner Mike Eakins.  Bubba has spent a little time with Lakota Retrievers but has mainly been trained and handled by Mike Eakins of Meatoll Tollers. Mike frequently trains and hunts with Lakota Retrievers and we are proud of both of them.

•  FIRST PASS, - Oct 14, 2006 - Congrats to "Kristen and Jake" We would like to congratulate 11 year old Kristen Lawless for her first ever hunt test pass.  She ran at the Central Kentucky UKC test in the Junior Handler stake.  She did a great job and made her mom (Judy Lawless) and all of us at Lakota Retrievers and Maetoll Tollers proud.  Kristen ran Lakota's own "Jake " SHR Landew's Cripple Creek Jake JH, WCI.  Good job Kristin and Jake, look for her to run more dogs this spring.  Below are pictures of Kristin running a few dogs in training.

•  "JH" TITLE, - Oct 7-8, 2006 - Congrats to "Dylan" SHR AKC/NSDTRC CH KD's Cedar Keepsake JH WC.  Dylan earned his 4th Junior Hunter pass to earn his title.  He was handled by Lakota Retrievers at the American Chesapeake Club hunt test in Northern Ohio.  Both his owner Laura Smith of Keepsake Tollers and us are very proud of this young man.  He has had a busy year earning both his UKC started and AKC Junior Hunter Titles.  Look for him this spring in UKC Seasoned and AKC Senior.

• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results,  - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to "Jonas" HR NSDTRC/AKC CH Maetoll's Reflection of Foxvale JH WCX earned his second leg toward his AKC Senior Hunter title and the NSDTRC-USA WCX.  Jonas trained and handled by Paul Kartes.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results,  - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to "Hurricane" Struan's Level 5 Hurricane WC, for passing his WC.  Hurricane was co-trained by Lakota Retrievers and Tammie Reipe.  He was handled by Paul Kartes to WC title, look for Hurricane in the AKC Junior stakes soon.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results, - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to "Muse" SHR NSDTRC/ AKC CH SR Struan's Flight of Fancy JH WC.  Muse was trained by Paul Kartes and handled to a WC pass by her owner Eric Johnson.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results, - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to "Tempie" Zephyr's Tempest WC in earning a WC pass with owner Nick Lynch handling.  Tempie came to Lakota Retriever for a few months over the summer to get some refresher work done for the field.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results, - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to "Ace" Blue Chip's Luck of the Draw JH WCI for winning the "Hunting Retriever" class at the National Specialty.  He accomplished this just 5 days after earning his first two UKC Season passes at the Inducky HRC test.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results, - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats Lakota Retrievers own "Ember" NSDTRC/ AKC CH Vermilion's All Fired Up WC, for her first attempt at agility and earning a qualifying score.  Thank you to Tammie Stone for her training and handling.
• NSDTRC (USA) Specialty Results, - Sept 24, 2006 - Congrats to Lakota Retrievers own "Pilsen" Pilsen of Cinnstar OA OAJ in earning his first CD leg in his obedience debut.  Thank you to Mandy Eakins for Pilsen's training and handling.  For those who know Pilsen know of his independent spirit and what a difficult task Mandy faced.

• April 30, 2006 - Despite having to be on a waiting list, we were able to get a few dogs in one day at the local UKC hunt test.  Congrats to Muse on her first started pass, congrats to Jonas running his first ever hunt test and earning a Seasoned Pass.  Also congrats to Neka on her Finished pass.  All dogs were trained and handled by Lakota Retrievers.
